Application Numbers and Permit Numbers

Many municipalities use the same permit number to identify an application through to the issued permit, while others prefer to use a different application number. CityReporter allows you to do either. It also has options to automatically generate application numbers and permit numbers.

1. Using your computer, log into CityReporter web with your city code, username, and password.  Select the Permits & Construction module in the left menu, then click the Setup button at the top of the screen, as shown. You must have Administrator permissions to access the Setup button.

      • Leave the Application # field blank in the Permit Editor to auto-generate the next number in sequence when you Save the new application.
      • If a value is entered instead of leaving it blank, the Application # will be set to that value.
    • Current # – Use # to indicate leading zeros, e.g. enter APPL-###1 to generate the next application number APPL-0002. The Current # field will automatically update after an application number is generated.
